THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES EVERYBODY
Yeah, we know: it kinda sucks. Everything must come to an end.
The decayed condition and dangerous incident originating from the
address above us, increasing in frequency and severity, forces our
Portland institution to it's final month of operation, August 2017.
Based on the damages routinely imposed on us, no insurance agency
can prove us coverage. Our business was marvelous and robust.
Those overseeing the building above us?: Atrocious.
What made us unique was our successful pursuit to remain intimate,
art driven, humble and indifferent to modern marketing convention.
We wanted to remain a tugboat, never an ocean liner.
How do you measure the Tugboat? It wasn't "annual barrel production"
It wasn't the depth of swag inventory. It wasn't the numbers of
televisions fixed to sport channels. It was instead measured by a
generation of human analog encounter, unexpected, organic an
appearing before you as you helped create it. Oh yeah, and there
was that millions of pints served and enjoyed too.
Since 1989: Jazz, folk, fusion, rock, visual art exhibitions, spoken word,
open mic, deaf theater, weddings, engagements, business gatherings,
chess duels, dance exhibitions, make ups, break ups, job interviews,
film festivals, music festivals, wakes. Yet the most meaningful of all:
humans gathering and engaging face to face - sharing observations
memories, testing ideas, art and discussing issues of the day.
Stop by soon to visit with Linsel, Nicole, Dan, Nicki and Megan for
another moment / hour / evening of good cheer. They'l like a chance
to express how much your friendship has meant to them.
WANT TO OWN A PART OF THE TUGBOAT?:
Who knows where you'll see us next. The should of the Tugboat won't
die. It'll ascend.
